Average score for this question >> 6,6 / 10

Alexandre S. : Alexandre Silvert: bad impression, I saw only bad the points of the organization (2)

Arnaud : Visual : very well done, the menu is simple; it’s easy to find everything on the website. (8)

Tony : Ugly and not professional. Bad choice of the colors, it looks like a travel agency or a private website. The menus are not substantial enough to know where to go. I think that the website do not reflect the people who work in Guolang at all. (2)

Jean : Nice visual, menu and the navigation are easy to use (9)

Alexandre R: Very colorful, a lot of information, but I haven‘t read all of them! (7)

Antoine : A real mess ! The website should be simplified; otherwise the visitor who gets lost could give up his research. To me, the homepage is not professional enough; it looks like a personal website (6)

Guilhem : the site is a little bit overwhelmed by icons and dark colors, but it remains pretty clear. (6)

Thomas PC : the visual’s a little bit too kitsch (6)

Alexis : The website’s overwhelming, the information is there but the links and functionalities can be better. It could become a real means of communication and information for the interns in China. (6)

Jean Christophe : Welcoming but not very professional, easy to use (8)

Maxime : Good impression. Very good website, but this one does not make a better impression than the competitors’ that have more attractive websites. (8)

Sébastien : The website would gain a lot from having a more professional aspect. We have the impression that it is a standard website on China and not a professional website that provides internships. The navigation is simple, but components used (visuals, icons) is repulsive. (5)

3.The aspect of the website did not discourage you, and you sent your CV. How did you perceive the recruiting process of Guolang ? (send CV + phone interview, until you become a real customer of Guolang = pay the deposit) ?

Average score for this question >> 8 / 10

Sebastien: Very good reactivity : we have very fast answers to our emails from the beginning, and fast feedbacks. The process of selection is very good, because we pay a deposit only if we are ensured to have an internship. Moreover, the emails and the phone interview are a good way to make the relationship more personal, it s better than talking to a “robot”. I felt immediately assured. (9)

Maxime :The phone process and the fact that we can talk to you on msn are two very important elements. While talking with Nicolas I was convinced by the company’s credibility. (9)

Jean Christophe : Very good, You took care of me and explained everything very well. One month later, I knew I was going to China. (9)

Alexis : Very serious and professional selection that leads to have confidence in the services proposed. Nothing to improve. (8)

Thomas PC:Fast, no problems. (8)

Guilhem :Professional, nothing to add (10)

Antoine :The method is very good in itself, but I have to say that I was a little bit scared in the beginning. I did not know who I was talking to. I would be good to add a page on the website with the pictures and history of our dear directors: their career path and the quality everyone acknowledge. The visitors would trust them more easily. (7)

Alexandre R :Good (8)

Jean :Original method, well-done, welcoming first contact (9)

Tony :I found it to be professional, but maybe Nicolas should insist on the level of English of the candidates, but in general it’s very satisfying. (8)

Arnaud :When taking a look at the distance between the interns and the Guolang team, it s not easy to recruit and the phone interview might be a little bit short to evaluate the motivation and the level of foreign languages of the candidates. But it seems to work as the interns usually do really well here. (8)

Alexandre S.:Perfect, very good follow-up. (10)

4.Let’s talk about money : first, do you have any remark on the money transfer ?

Alexandre S: Nothing to say

Arnaud :Easy, very useful, best solution to me

Tony : except a little problem when we had to transform my contract from VIE to internship without accommodation, the payment is easy.

Jean : Nothing to say, it s very good to me.

Alexandre R:Simple, as if I was paying for some sport bets on the internet;-)

Antoine :I don t know if it s still like this but I couldn’t choose the option I wanted when paying. Otherwise, nothing to say.

Guilhem :simple and fast for the deposit

Thomas PC :no

Alexis :Efficient but it could me even more simple.

Jean Christophe :simple, good

Maxime :OK

Sebastien:Nothing in particular, paid by credit card online.

4.bis : Then, any remark on the fees ?

Sebastien: I think the cost is expensive, but at the same time, knowing that the price includes the internship research and the accommodation research, that it is really hard doing it from France without any network in China, the end justifies the means. Moreover, I don t think we can say it is really expensive if the service perfectly fits our expectations and the quality very high. To me, the price is justified and I would do it again if I had the choice.

Maxime :I think it s reasonable. You could even charge a very low cost for any file open.

Jean Christophe :More expensive than their competitors but high quality services.

Alexis : A little bit expensive but justified when we take into account the presence of the members of the team and the quality of their service.

Thomas PC:Pretty expensive.

Guilhem :Less expensive than their American competitors, but still expensive for this kind of service.

Antoine :The prices on the market I think. This price is justified by the invaluable presence of the members once there.

Alexandre R :Correct

Jean :At the beginning it seemed expensive, but the assistance, the service and the contacts given by Guolang justify more than the investment !

Tony :hahaha of course it s too expensive when you take a look at the remuneration of the interns it permits only to cover the costs and we have to be financed by someone else. But I don t think it s possible to lower the price.

Arnaud :Too expensive, of course.

Alexandre S:uhh a little bit too expensive for a student, no ?

5.You are finally a customer of Guolang, paid the deposit and you wonder wether they will find you an internship… Tell me more about your feelings during these 45 contractual days when Guolang committed itself to find you a suitable internship..
In between parenthèses, individual scoring from 0 to 10.
Average score for this question >> 6,2 / 10

Alexandre S: No stress (9)

Arnaud :Guolang found my internship right after the end of my classes, and I have to say that I wasn’t very confident being the last in my class to get an internship when talking to my teachers and school director.. It was really short on time and I was ready to accept a proposition in France.. (1)

Tony :Ok, first it lasted more or less 6 months for me. But I appreciated the follow-up even if I would have liked more information more often. (1)

Jean : Some stress, of course ! Especially because I had a pretty uncommon CV. But finally, I realized that it helped me a lot ! (8)

Alexandre R:Good, Nicolas and Suzy are a good team, and they made me confident when they told me they will find something for me, but I had also other propositions so I wasn’ t stressed out. (3)

Antoine :It did not last for 45 days but it was nice ! I knew I had to work in a media company and I was in contact with Suzy, who I thought very young and charming (I was wrong on the first characteristic even if some friends told me that she looked 30 on the picture). I was impatient to go to Shanghai and I was not ready to let go of it. (9)

Guilhem :I feel like I wasn’t followed-up. I had to ask many times to know if there was any progress. I would have liked to have more information week after week (3)

Thomas PC :Nice, nothing to say (9)

Alexis :Guolang committed itself to find you a suitable internship. More choices of different internships, that was great, but I also understand the difficulty of fonctionning…(5)

Jean Christophe :I was pretty confident and impatient to see the propositions. Many choices would have been great, but probably difficult to work in this business.…(9)

Maxime :Stressed . At some moments we doubt from the credibility of the organization. I was scared that Guolang will fail!….(8)

Sebastien:Personally, I did not stress for long since my internship in a consulting office was found within 2 weeks, so the 45 days..dunno ;-) I wasn’t really scared, I had told Nicolas my expectations and I knew he would take it into account, so I was very confident. Thanks again to Lystia who early woke me up one morning to tell me the good news! (9)

6.We have found your internship ! You arrive in China and the Guolang team is here to welcome you at the airport ! During your whole stay in China, the team was there to assist you in your everyday life we helped you, listened to you and took care of you… Tell us your impressions!

Sebastien: Seriously, if no one from Guolang was there to welcome me at the airport, I wouldn’t know what to do with everything that I would have to have done! Thank you Suzy again and Nicolas, for your help and thanks to Elise who worked in Guolang at that time. It’s the little things that made me trust Guolang. Moreover, thanks to them, I met other interns that became my friends, and I think it s a very important thing to underline, knowing that when you arrive in China, you’re not completely alone ! (9)

Maxime :Extraordinary . Nothing else to say. I always knew there was someone to help me. Suzy and Nicolas become our adoptive parents. (10)

Jean Christophe :Very careful. Nothing else to say. (10)

Alexis : the assistance was perfect! I hope that the level of quality will not low down with the increase of the numbers of activities in Guolang. (9)

Thomas PC:Nice, nothing to add (9)

Guilhem :I think that I can’t really comment much about this. A friend of mine came to pick me up at the airport and helped me find an apartment. But on the other hand, Sophie was extremely helpful when negotiating with the (real estate) agency. But I still haven’t received the list of important contacts in Shanghai. (6)

Antoine :The assistance is close to perfection : enough to adore it ! More than satisfying. (9)

Alexandre R :I’m glad Suzy was there to find my luggage ! The apartment and casual commodities were not a problem as it wasn’t my first time in China. (8)

Jean :What can I say ? First Sophie was helpful and efficient. I could have never managed to live here without them ! I consider my Guolang network as good friends (and I hope that they feel the same). (10)

Tony :Sophie is very nice and do her best to help us. And it is a very important point. The spirit “regnant chew” in Guolang is one of their main assets. Special mentions to Suzy and nicolas who are like (grand) parents for us! (8)

Arnaud :From this moment it is very easy, they welcome us very warmly, we feel assisted everyday and we get in touch with other students like us so that we can get contacts and fast new friends. (10)

Alexandre S:Very good impression, they helped me out a lot. (10)

7.You are here for an internship, so what do you think about it ? Does it match your expectations? Was it what you were looking for ?
In between parenthèses, individual scoring from 0 to 10.
Average score for this question >> 7,25 / 10

Alexandre S: Yep perfect (10)

Arnaud :I was expecting that it would be hard and would require lots of efforts for the initial adaptation but I wasn’t deceived. (10)

Tony :A little misunderstanding between Guolang and the company. They were waiting for me a month later. (8)

Jean : I do not regret anything (no, nothing), my work is wonderful, the atmosphere very nice and lots of contacts for my future ! (10)

Alexandre R:Hem, let’s just say that the Chinese are not perfect. (4)

Antoine :For an experience, it’s an experience ! I think that no one in my class was confronted to such situation ! Lots of problems but it was fulfilling! (9)

Guilhem :To tell the truth, I am pretty deceived by the internship, it is true that it seemed interesting on the paper but my daily work boils down to some phoning ; pretty poor experience for 5 months ! So I m waiting for an answer mid-September from Alaris. If it s negative, I ll try to find another work in Shanghai. In any case, I don t think I’ll continue my internship at ms3 until the end. Moreover, the other interns have found this internship on the forum? bonjourshanghai ?, so where is the additional value of the Guolang network ? (4)

Thomas PC :More or less (7)

Alexis :It s not really Guolang’s fault but my internship had some technical sides that did not fit with my expectations. However, it was a very pleasant and fulfilling experience. (7)

Jean Christophe :It was not entirely perfect but the experience was even more interesting ! (10)

Maxime :Extraordinary internship. Thank you very much! (10)

Sebastien:G-REA-T ! I do an internship in a field that really interests me, which is the management of project in the field of quality, with the set-up of a system of quality insurance for the activity of sourcing of occidental firms in China. It is definitely what I was looking for and I learnt a lot from it (I still have one month there; I should not talk in the past?). This experience will be very valuable and will permit me to have a good mark for my report at school (8)

8.Any difficulties in particular ?
Sebastien: I would say that the major difficulty, the daily one, was the language barrier. Indeed, I was the only one non Chinese speaker and sometimes, I could not participate in interesting projects because communicating in Chinese was mandatory. However, it seems obvious that it is me, living abroad, that has to adapt myself and not the contrary. This is why I do my best to learn Chinese.

Maxime :No. I bought brand new clothes. On a professional level, amazing.

Alexis :No

Thomas PC : No

Antoine:Yes, but it would be too long to explain. I still have however very good memories about it!

Alexandre R :The Chinese boss …

Jean :Nothing to say

Arnaud :It s too technical so I won t talk about it, otherwise it would be really boring.

Alex S :NO

9.Any success stories ? Unforgettable memories ?
Sebastien: The first unforgettable thing is the human experience in this internship. I met amazing people and I tend to consider some colleagues like true friends after a while, with whom I go out frequently. I also had a great relationship with my boss Edward Gwinn and his wife who are the co-directors of the company and incredible people, very open-minded and remarkably simple people. The second thing, linked to the first one, is that my colleagues really help me with my Chinese, translating sometimes a few words and helping me having simple conversations. These little words turned into a basic level of Chinese that I hope I will improve in the next years

Jean-Christophe :I became THE Gao Jie Fu! Nothing else to say.

Alexis :Travels, lots of memories, a great atmosphere at work, a total change of scene and the desire to come back to make the most of professional opportunities.

Antoine : Unforgetable things, that’s for sure ! But success stories, I cannot judge.

Alexandre R:… I’m questionning my abilities now !!!

Jean :To drink for free in high-selective bars and restaurants of Shanghai, hang out with top-models, meet a cinema producer interested in young filmmakers… Can you dream about something better?

Arnaud :Negotiate with a fishman on Qian Dao Hu lake , very unbelievable situations (eat sausages with chopsticks !!), surprising rencontre etc…

Alexandre S :Thanks to this internship I was hired in the company and I travel to Brazil, Thailand… etc

10.After work, you need to cool down a little bit Guolang often organize events to gather in a warming way all the interns (Teppanyaki, beach, BBQ, cocktails…), what do you think about these events ?
In between parenthèses, individual scoring from 0 to 10.
Average score for this question >> 8,6 / 10

Alex S: I never participated.

Tony :I went to one event only(business mixer) because I did not have enough time. People were nice and the chance to meet professional opportunities cannot be neglected (8)

Arnaud :Nice. (8)

Jean : Excellent atmosphere! You’ll discover yourself in laughter all the time! (9)

Alex R:fun, I really liked the BBQ because I made the food with Antoine (7)

Antoine :We laughed so much ! You go to a beach party? you’re so lucky ! An Dun, always the first to party ! (9)

Guilhem :Very nice evenings, they really help for our adaptation to Shanghai life.. (10)

Thomas PC : I never went

Alexis :I never went to the beach ?? Although I did not participate a lot to these gatherings, it s always nice to be invited. It’s not Guolang’s fault but we cannot have affinities with everyone. (7)

Jean Christophe :Great moments. (10)

Maxime :Super, especially when we arrive and fell lonely, its great to have the chance to meet friends from the beginning. (10)

Sebastien:As I was just saying, creating links with people who had never been in China is a great asset of Guolang. The idea of the cocktail with the bosses is excellent because it allows exchanging our visiting cards in an informal structure. Personally, I was not going to go these types of events all the time, but I was going out a lot with my colleagues, but I always had a lot of pleasure meeting the other interns. Never felt obliged to go there, I felt I could go whenever I wanted. (8)

11.Now express your deep self, your general feeling about Guolang ?
In between parenthèses, individual scoring from 0 to 10.
Average score for this question >> 16 / 20.

Sebastien: If I had to do it again, I would do the same, because Guolang was the departure point of my integration in China. They found me an internship, an accommodation and permitted me to meet interesting people. Moreover, in case of a problem, even personal, I knew I could count on them and finally there was a real proximity with them and a desire from them to help us. (18)

Maxime :I miss you(18,67)

Jean-Christophe :Big kisses to Suzy and Nico, and to the whole team. I might come back soon; if so, I’ll use your services again. (19)

Alexis : Thanks very much to Suzy and Nico, my Guolang experience will definitely be an asset in my career path. They really established a confident relation with their interns by providing them a good quality service and a great assistance (16)

Thomas PC:15/20

Guilhem :I think I have said everything, the team is very nice, I did not expect you to assist me for so long and it was really nice and helpful. Thank you very much. Concerning the internship, Stéphane had convinced me that the job would be interesting and it fitted with my ? business development ?criterion. If my work finally boils down to some phoning stuff, there is plenty of this kind of job in Shanghai. I’d rather change.

Antoine :I have a heartbreak when thinking about this year in Shanghai with Suzy, Nicolas and the Guolang team. I think I am so lucky that I had the chance to live this experience in these conditions: I will never forget it. Not only are Suzy ad Nicolas very professional, but they are also very human and it’s not often. I consider them as friends (18)

Alex R :Good atmosphere, I don’t work with them everyday so when I see them everything is fine (17)

Jean :Guolang I love you,
Guolang, you’re like cream,
So many things to tell,
To bored little Parisians !
(and this is improvisation !) (17)

Tony :Feels like a big family (17)

Arnaud :The team is really nice and full of qualities, the atmosphere within the group of students is pleasant and cool. 5 months in China is something unique and Guolang gave us this opportunity, so thanks a lot. (18)

Alex S:Perfect, I recommend it . (19)

12. Any other comment? How would you make things better ?
Sebastien: A better survey (I m joking Charlene, your survey is very good, even if I did bullshit lol), design more professional of the website, but that’s it, sorry I have nothing else to ad but in my situation there’s nothing to say except maybe the massage service at home or the laundry service (or both).
What do you think about it?

Guilhem :Maybe in the future make a clear job description with the boss. And a more regular contact with the future interns during the research.

Alex S :to improve the design of the website : the chinese lanterns, it is a little kitch, cheesy ..

Antoine : Make the website more professional to gain more credibility at first contact. There are many hackers and non-credible businesses on this market. We should be made aware that Guolang is nothing like that ! Ideas : your CV, pictures, testimonials. a regular interaction between the intern and the company. Somebody who could follow up regularly the interns while they work in the firm : it would help you a lot..

Alex R:…stop hiring ugly interns ! !

Jean :Guolang for president! Don’t change anything, the formula is perfect!

Arnaud :Organize beer contests, make videos for the website (but don’t show the debauchery that happens in Bonbon..)

Alex Silvert :just the website..

PS : for those who don’t know ... yet… Shanghai : : Bonbon is the club where 50% of the young foreigners frequent, the other 50% were the hardcores of l’ATTICA … See the photos of our interns in all the good magazines…
